Jessica and Ben – October 23, 2010

Jessica and Ben got married in a tiny little one room church in Karthus, PA just down the road from Ben’s (now their) farm. Jess, a fellow wedding photographer, made sure that everything was planned out perfectly and that we had plenty of time to get some great photos.

The entire church was over run by ladybugs so we figured we might as well not fight it!

Instead of the traditional rice or bubbles, their guests threw barley at them when exiting the church.  It made for some fun pictures but it sure did take a while to get out of Jess’ hair (and other places).

This was Ben’s first dip – Jess talked him through it and he did great!

Ben’s fields in the background.

This is the lane leading from their house to the church where they were married.

A beautiful 3 tier cheesecake that Jess drove all the way from Spring Mills without breaking.

What late October wedding would be complete without a photo of the full moon?

Teresa and Jake Engagement Session

Finally, our first engagement session at the arboretum! Teresa and Jake are from the Lock Haven area so they trusted us to pick the spot. We’ve made a few attempts but have not photographed an engagement session there before so it took some wandering and playing around but we found some beautiful spots. Every time we go to the arboretum it looks more and more beautiful and we can see where they are continuing to expand. We can’t wait to see what it will look like in a few years!

New Road Sign is Installed!

New road sign is finally finished and installed.  Well, actually it’s not totally finished, there will be a small drop-down sign below it that says “weddings portraits”.  But the main sign is up and we couldn’t be happier.  We’ve already had people calling and stopping in who said they had no idea we were even here before the sign.  Thanks to Karl Eric Leitzel for the sign construction and installation and to Jody and Ernie Fesco for the design.

Here is the small version of the sign hanging on our studio.

Ashley and Nick Engagement Session

Another great fall day – another great couple! Ashley and Nick had stopped by our booth at thewedding showcaselast month and are now well on their way to planning their May 2012 wedding. We did their engagement photos on the PSU campus at Old Main and the surrounding area. They brought their beautiful dog Morgan along and she jumped in a few shots with them. Morgan is an extremely photogenic and well behaved Australian Blue Healer. We’ve photographed couples with dogs in the past but Morgan was by far the easiest we’ve ever had the pleasure of working with.

Heather and Darrell – October 9, 2010

An intimate ceremony on Penn State campus followed by reception at Toftrees Resort. Heather and Darrell were married at the Hintz Alumni Center on a gorgeous October Saturday – a home football weekend! The ceremony was brief but touching and we hurried to get a few pictures and off of campus before the football traffic left out.

They were given special permission to have photos taken on the President’s Drive.  We were all hoping for some more fall color in the leaves but it was beautiful just the same.

Heather overheard some ladies talking about how odd her orange flowers were and we had to reassure her all day that they were, in fact, not odd.  We loved them and thought Woodrings did a fantastic job!

You may recognize the lovely Shannon from here

A rousing rendition of “I’ve Got You Babe” performed by Heather’s cousins really got the crowd going!

Brandy and Paul Engagement Session

We were supposed to photograph these two at the arboretum on PSU campus but it would seem that a gorgeous fall Sunday + day after homecoming = crowded arboretum. So we decided to go Spring Creek Park, knowing how great it looks this time of year. We had been warned by Brandy that making Paul smile might be a formidable task but it turned out he’s a natural – and Brandy did okay too :) It didn’t take long at all until they were having fun in front of the camera and great pics followed.

Lauren and Mike Engagement Session

A beautiful fall afternoon in Happy Valley spent with a wonderful couple. Lauren and Mike will be getting married at the Penn State Arboretum next year – our first wedding there and we cannot wait! Since we’ll be on campus then we decided to take them to General Potter Farm for there e-session. We’ve done quite a few events at the farm this year and have really come to love photographing there. This particular session was a lot of fun but not without it’s challenges. From the moment we arrived we were continuously followed around by their 2 dogs and their goat Nigel. But neither them nor the stray kitten that made a brief appearance to spar with the dogs could stop us from getting some fantastic shots!

Nigel the goat not wanting to be left out of the fun.

Cara and Billy – October 2, 2010

Another great wedding this past weekend! Cara and Billy were married at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in downtown State College with reception to follow at Celebration Hall. We had planned to do most of the photography on campus at PSU but due to huge crowds for parent’s weekend we decided to make a detour to Spring Creek Park. It worked out really well as we were able to get some fantastic shots there!
