Allison and Matt Wedding – May 21, 2011 – Lancaster, PA

After about 2 weeks straight of rainy days in central PA (and us scrambling for a rain plan for photos) the sun decided to come out and give us a gorgeous day this past Saturday. We were in Lancaster county atHistoric St. Mary’sandLime Spring Farmfor Allison and Matt’s wedding. We had previewed the sites a few months ago while visiting family in the area and doing their engagement sessionhad been excited to shoot there ever since. The day certainly didn’t let us down and hopefully the photos live up to our, and more importantly their, expectations.

On a personal note Allison is an old friend of mine from High School and I had the opportunity to see some others that I hadn’t seen in over a decade. One of Allison’s bridesmaids was even my prom date! Andrea and I were busy shooting most of the time so I didn’t have much of a chance to catch up, but nevertheless it was fun to see some familiar faces.

Overall, it was a beautiful day with a great couple at two fantastic venues. What more could a photographer ask for?! – Joel

Erin – Senior Studio Session

Say hello to Erin, number “six” of J&A Photography’s senior reps and a prom-pretty diva to boot! Actually she’s quite nice and doesn’t act like a diva at all, but she wears her prom gown like it was made for her! On this rainy day, we went from a more glamorous look to a laid back edgy style during Erin’s photo session. I’ve been wanting to use these British boxes that we found for the longest time and thought we would try it out with Erin. Now I think I love those british boxes even more! Job well done, Miss Erin, and we even got to hang a bit while Joel and little Emelia helped changed background scenes. Well Emelia didn’t help, but I’m sure, like all spunky toddlers, she was entertaining to our lovely guest.  -  Andrea  : )

Emily and Dan – Engagement Session

We’ll be photographing Emily and Dan next month at their wedding at General Potter Farm, one of our favorite venues, and they were finally able to schedule some time to do their engagement session. A beautiful evening at the arboretum – it was bright and sunny, not a cloud in the sky, making for some tricky lighting conditions. But that didn’t stop us from getting some great shots and having a lot of fun in the process. Enjoy!

Riley Elizabeth Miller – State College Newborn Photography

Today we photographed a sweet little lady named Riley Elizabeth Miller.  This almost 8 pound cutie is the daughter of proud parents Randy and Corrine Miller, both who are friends of ours.  Miss Riley was a very good girl throughout the session…only pooping once on our props!  She actually slept the entire session only wiggling a few times (of course during the hanging shots).  We look forward to taking more photos of Riley as she gets older and can’t wait to see what surprises she’ll have in store for us next time.  Congratulations Corrine and Randy!  -  Andrea & Joel

Rebecca – State College Urban Senior Portrait Session

Check out this urban lady!  Miss Rebecca makes her photographic debut as “number five” of the lucky seven ladies to be photographed as J&A Photography’s senior reps.  We headed downtown State College for her photo shoot for some street scenes and alleyways.  Boy did we bite off more than we could chew!  I didn’t initially realize that it was Friday night on graduation weekend….so you could say it was a little busy downtown.  Rebecca did a fine job though despite all the onlookers, a few cat calls, and I think she even made some fans.  I’m sure she was glad to have her big sis, Madeline, there to pump her up and keep her comfortable.  Even with the local distractions, Rebecca pulled out her finest poses and gave us some edgy street scene looks that we were coveting.  Great job, Rebecca!  -  Andrea :  )

Alyssa’s Senior Photos – State College Portrait Photography

Say hello to this country girl beauty!  Alyssa is number four of the lucky seven girls being photographed for J&A’s senior reps.  We photographed Alyssa last night at the General Potter Farm.  We have always enjoyed photographing at this venue for weddings and engagement shoots.  The owners are very laid back, the landscapes are beautiful, and there are these rustic spots rich with character all throughout the grounds.   Definitely a fit for this country girl’s style.  Alyssa brought to the table a variety of looks ranging from country class and sweetness to elegant beauty.  I think we all had a great time at the shoot…even with the minor distractions of the owners’ goat, Nigel.  I think he came very close to eating our reflector, the end of Alyssa’s dress, and my elbow!  Despite Mr. Nigel’s nibbles, we got some very nice shots.  Definitely a job well done, Miss Alyssa!  : )  -  Andrea

Ashley and Jordan engagement session

Ashley and Jordan will be married this summer at beautiful Scotch Run Farms in Hollidaysburg. We met them there this past Sunday to preview the site and to do some engagement photos. After looking around the farm we decided that it was so beautiful that we wanted to save it for the wedding so we decided to head to Baker Mansion down the road in Altoona for the engagement shots. It was a gorgeous day and we all had a lot of fun getting some great shots. We can’t wait for the wedding!

Kelli’s Senior Photos – State College Portrait Photography

Meet Kelli Lenze.  She is number three of the lucky seven girls being photographed as J&A’s senior reps.  Kelli is definitely a natural in front of the “Lenze” (no pun intended) and nature girl!  Her photo shoot took place at the Boalsburg Military Museum.  Not only is it a cozy place for the farmer’s market, but a great combination of nature and architectural backgrounds.  On occasion I’ve driven by thinking, “What a great place to do a photo shoot!”  I just love the rows and rows of tall trees that are grown together.  Kelli seems to be at home in this setting; putting her at ease during the photo shoot.  Great job, Kelli!  You are the nature beauty!  : )  -  Andrea

Heather and Darrell – Maternity Session

Close blog followers may recognize Heather and Darrell fromtheir wedding post. They were married just last October and have wasted no time in getting their family started. We had a lot of fun with them at their wedding and knew this session would be no different. Heather came very prepared with a multitude of outfits and props and Darrell came hoping to be in as few photos as possible. Apparently his new lawn mower was calling his name and he was itching to get home to it. We took a bit longer than he may have liked but I think it was worth it as we got some great shots! We can’t wait to meet baby Jackson in July, good luck Heather! – Joel

Evan – Newborn Session

Evan was just 8 days old at his newborn session.  Typically, when they are that young they sleep very soundly and are less fussy.  I say typically because there are always exceptions, and boy was Evan an exception.  His parents had for-warned me that he was not a good sleeper but I was still optimistic as he started strong – sleeping peacefully through the first setup.  After that though the little guy just didn’t want to get comfortable and we struggled to get some photos.  We hung in there though and were patient, eventually getting him to settle back down allowing for some great shots! – Joel

He even managed to give us a little smile!
