Taylor’s senior photos – State College portrait photography

Taylor get’s the prize (so far) for coming the longest distance to have us do his senior portraits so we thought it only fair that he be featured on our blog.  He and his mom drove over an hour and a half to meet with us at the Military Museum in Boalsburg this past Sunday for his senior portrait session.  A couple of years ago we photographed his sister Kendra’s wedding in Altoona and I guess they were pleased enough with those photos that they didn’t mind the drive.  Well, Taylor did a fantastic job and we hope they feel the long trip was worth it – we certainly do!

Stephanie and Michael – State College engagement photography session

It’s been about 3 years since we first meet Stephanie and Mike when they were in a bridal party of a wedding we were photographing.  At the time (they weren’t even engaged yet) I remember Steph asking us if we traveled to Vermont because she wanted us to photograph her wedding.  Well, as it turned out, Mike did pop the question and they decided to get married here in State College at beautiful General Potter Farm.

So after the details of the wedding were taken care of it was time for the engagement session.  We started with some fun Penn State shots at Beaver Stadium and moved on to Mike’s aunt’s farm to finish up.  We learned that not only was it a special location because it was a family farm but it had been Steph’s dream house for years before she even knew Mike!

Steph and Mike, we had a great time and cannot wait until the wedding next year!

Alana and David – Penn State wedding photography

A good word to describe the weather in central PA is unpredictable.  Recently we’ve had stretches with tons of rain then days of glorious sunshine and unseasonable warmth.  Alana and David’s wedding just happened to fall on one of those gloomy, cold, rain filled days.  It sure made for a difficult day for us photographers, the only saving grace was the fantastic couple we had to work with.  They never complained about the weather once and trusted us completely to find some usable spots on the Penn State campus.

The ceremony was at Eisenhower Chapel and the reception at the Penn Stater.  Photos were taken at the Alumni Center, West Halls and the Penn Stater.  We know conditions were far from ideal but we are quite proud of the beautiful images we were able to capture for Alana and David.  We wish the lovely couple best wishes for the future – hopefully the whole thing about rain on your wedding day being good luck will hold true for them.

    Joel and Andrea,

Thank you for all you did to capture all the little details of our big day. Despite the rain and cold weather, you both worked to get great shots around campus, in places we would never have thought to go. We are excited to see all the rest of the pictures.

    Thanks again,
    Dave and Alana

Shannon and Bill – Penn State arboretum engagement photos

It has been a busy, BUSY October here at J&A.  Not only is it senior portrait season but everyone loves the colors of fall in central PA and we’ve been shooting engagements and family portraits daily as well.  As we’ve gotten busier it’s been more and more difficult to keep up with blogging about our sessions.  That being said we knew we just had to include Shannon and Bill’s session on the blog.

Shannon comes from a long line of Boone family members that we’ve had the privilege of working with.  Her sister Stacey was the first as the maid-of-honor in a wedding we photographed a few years ago.  Stacey then booked us for her own wedding.  Stacey liked her photos so much that soon after her wedding she booked a separate portrait session with her sister Shannon. Next was brother Jake who was married last year.  Then just recently both Stacey and her husband Ted as well as Jake and his wife Mandy were blessed with beautiful babies that we photographed.  Now, this coming weekend we’ll be photographing sister Amanda’s wedding!  Sheesh!

But yesterday was Shannon’s day – her and Bill met us at the Penn State arboretum for a great engagement session.  They are a fantastic couple and we had a great time.  We feel so blessed to have been able to work with this wonderful family so many times and we can’t wait to do so again next year on Shannon and Bill’s big day.
