Family & Child Portrait Sessions
PLANNING & TIPS
Portrait sessions with J&A are anything but traditional, unless of course that’s your style! We take a casual, laid back approach to your family or child’s portrait session to make your photos as unique as you are. Choose a simple in studio look, outdoor at a local park in the State College area, urban, or in your home. The options are limitless and we are open to your suggestions.
WHAT TO WEAR
Try to keep outfits simple and stay away from any clothing with written logos. Favorites are layered outfits and organic textures, bare feet, and babies in their birthday suits! If is more then one child, outfits can be similar, but it’s not necessary to have them matching.
PREPARATION
Make sure everyone is well rested, and well fed. Relax and enjoy! Children can sense stressful energy and often react against it making for a difficult session. If a child is not feeling well, it’s better to reschedule. If the plan is to meet at a park, then make sure to bring snacks, a drink, outfit changes and even wet wipes! We recommend a phone consultation to discuss your ideas, wardrobe and plans for your images. If you’re in the neighborhood and would rather stop by in person please feel free to do so (just call ahead to make sure we are here!) Proper planning and a little time getting to know you can make a huge difference in the final outcome of your portraits.
Shortly after your session (sometimes as soon as a few days!) your preview images will be available to view online in a secure, password protected gallery. A proof magazine is also available for $40 if requested. As soon as the images are posted online you are able to order prints and products! Simply give us a call to set up an ordering session or to give your order over the phone.

Basic Studio Session $35
- A simple, classic, family portrait with one outfit. Typically for families with older children or not wanting individual photos of the kids
- up to 30 minutes
1 Hour Studio Session $50
- Best suited for sessions with multiple family groups, young children, or those wanting to change outfits or backdrops
Location Session $65
- 2-3 Outfits
- At the location of your choosing in the State College area
- up to 1 hour
