Stephanie and Michael – State College Wedding Photography

A fantastic wedding with Michael and Stephanie!  We met them a few years ago at Michael’s best man Derek’s wedding.  Since then we have worked with Derek another time and with Stephanie’s sister and maid-of-honor Adriane, so it was great to see some familiar faces.  We always love seeing people we know and have worked with in the past, it really adds to the fun of the day for us.

We started the day with some getting ready and separate bridal party shots at the beautiful homes of Stephanie’s parents and Michael’s aunt.  They both were fantastic locations not only for the indoor preparation photos but the outdoor portraits and candids as well.  From there we headed to Boalsburg for the ceremony, campus for the bridal party pics, and finally to General Potter Farm for the reception.

We’ve been to General Potter Farm for any weddings and we’ve seen it dressed up really well.  That being said, Stephanie did and AMAZING job, we think it was the best we’ve ever seen it!

The whole days was just fantastic from start to finish and we had soooo much fun!  Big congratulations to a sweet couple, we hope you enjoy your pictures!

Fiona’s Senior Portraits – State College Senior Photography

Say hello to Fiona!  This tall long haired beauty is our 2nd Senior Rep to be photographed this year.  She may be new to us taking her picture, but her family is no stranger to our photo services.  Both her older brother and sister have been to our studio for their senior pics.  So we definitely had a good feeling about Fiona and she certainly proved us right!

We first started in the studio, which I think we managed to pull out a “Cover Girl” shot from her photo shoot (seen down below).  She had the look and smile to pass for one anyway.  : )  We were about to go out back behind our studio to our Caribbean colored wall, but alas, it started to rain and we had to reschedule the rest of her shoot for a different (more dry) day.

Once we got together again, we went back to our brightly colored wall and she brought a stellar look to compliment the scenery.  Adding her high heels and a trendy bun, she must have stood 6 feet tall.  She is one long legged lady!  A couple of times during her shoot I either had to stand on the tip of my toes or on a small stool just to get a good angle on her. Despite the height difference between us, we made a good team and had a fun shoot.

We then traveled to General Potter Farm for the outdoor portion of her shoot, which was a good fit for Fiona’s style.  As soon as she pulled the boots and scarves out of her bag, we thought of the farm.  She too is an accessories girl!  We got some great woodsy and rustic shots of Fiona.  She really looked natural and beautiful in this setting.  Her mom, Mary, was along during her shoots and proved to make a great photo assistant as she held a light or a diffusion panel.  Hey, when you need another hand, mom always comes to the rescue, right!  Mary was a good sport about it and pleasantly held the extra light at times so that her daughter would get an awesome shot.  : )

Overall, we laughed, we posed, we got rained out, we trudged through the woods, we petted Nigel the goat (at the farm), and hopefully ended up with a great experience for Fiona as well as great photos.  Great job, Fiona and thank for being our Senior Rep!  -  Andrea : )

Seniors, seniors, seniors!!! – State College portrait photography

Well, it’s back to school for State High and that means time for those who have not already done so to start thinking about senior pictures.  The deadline for submission to the yearbook is rapidly approaching and that means our schedule is full, full, full!  We’ve been quite busy the past couple of weeks and things aren’t looking like they are slowing down anytime soon.  Here is a sample of some of our favorite photos from the past few sessions.  Enjoy!

State College Portrait Photography – Maria’s senior photos

Tuesday we were out at General Potter Farms to photograph Maria for her senior portraits.  We had a great session and as you can see, her horse was in a few shots.  We first met Maria at the stables where “Hutch” resides to take some photos of them together.  It was our first time working with a horse and boy did we have our work cut out for us!  While Maria was spot on with her winning smile time after time, Mr. Hutch seemed to be a little camera shy.  Eventually he perked his ears up and we got some really nice shots of them together.  After we said our “good-byes” and “thank-you’s” to Hutch, we drove out to Potter Farms for the rest of Maria’s senior session.  This classy country girl, feeling at home in this setting, looked beautifully natural and warming.  Thankfully we just squeaked in before the last of the daylight disappeared.  Great job Maria and we hope both you and Hutch enjoyed your photo shoot together.  -  Andrea : )

Teresa and Jake’s Wedding – Huntingdon, PA

Teresa and Jake’s wedding was at St. James in Huntingdon with the reception at General Potter Farm in Potter’s Mills.  It was a hot, HOT day (we’ve been having a lot of those lately) but Teresa never complained and was a real trooper for the outdoor photos.

They had a very unique idea for a guestbook.  Everyone put there fingerprint and signed their name on a branch of their tree.

Emily and Dan’s Wedding – June 12, 2011

Emily and Dan got married at the beautifulGeneral Potter Farmon a gorgeous (and hot!) Sunday afternoon in June. We met with them at their hotel rooms to do some preparation photos and then went with them to some various spots on campus to do photos with them and their bridal party. Overall it was a challenging but fun bright and sunny day.  Congratulations Emily and Dan!

Somebody (we won’t name names) forgot to bring Dan’s tux along to the hotel so he had quite a bit of downtime waiting for his dad to run back to their home in Pleasant Gap to pick it up.  There was a lot of time to relax, some Karate Kid watching and even a bit of beer pong played during the wait.

When his dad did arrive there was a frantic, almost NASCAR pitcrew-like frenzy to get Dan ready.

Alyssa’s Senior Photos – State College Portrait Photography

Say hello to this country girl beauty!  Alyssa is number four of the lucky seven girls being photographed for J&A’s senior reps.  We photographed Alyssa last night at the General Potter Farm.  We have always enjoyed photographing at this venue for weddings and engagement shoots.  The owners are very laid back, the landscapes are beautiful, and there are these rustic spots rich with character all throughout the grounds.   Definitely a fit for this country girl’s style.  Alyssa brought to the table a variety of looks ranging from country class and sweetness to elegant beauty.  I think we all had a great time at the shoot…even with the minor distractions of the owners’ goat, Nigel.  I think he came very close to eating our reflector, the end of Alyssa’s dress, and my elbow!  Despite Mr. Nigel’s nibbles, we got some very nice shots.  Definitely a job well done, Miss Alyssa!  : )  -  Andrea

Heather and Greg Wedding – February 26, 2011

Our first wedding of 2011!  We’re not quite sure why Heather and Greg chose February to get married but we knew from the start it would be a challenge.  An evening ceremony meant very, very little light for outdoor photos afterward and of course it was COLD!!!  But they were very easy going about the unusual circumstances and a dream to work with.  We may have had to give Heather a bit of “encouragement” to trudge through the snow in her high heels to get a few shots outside but we think she’ll be glad she did.  Overall, it was a great wedding with a great couple.  The weather outside didn’t stop them or their guests from having a fantastic time and a great party at the reception!

Lauren and Mike Engagement Session

A beautiful fall afternoon in Happy Valley spent with a wonderful couple. Lauren and Mike will be getting married at the Penn State Arboretum next year – our first wedding there and we cannot wait! Since we’ll be on campus then we decided to take them to General Potter Farm for there e-session. We’ve done quite a few events at the farm this year and have really come to love photographing there. This particular session was a lot of fun but not without it’s challenges. From the moment we arrived we were continuously followed around by their 2 dogs and their goat Nigel. But neither them nor the stray kitten that made a brief appearance to spar with the dogs could stop us from getting some fantastic shots!

Nigel the goat not wanting to be left out of the fun.

Travis and Shannon – September 18, 2010

Had a great wedding reception and portrait session this past weekend with Travis and Shannon.  They recently had a destination wedding in Mexico and were celebrating with their friends and family back home.  They asked us to come get some great photos of themselves, their bridal party and families before their reception began.  The whole event took place at beautiful General Potter Farm in Potter’s Mills.
