Kristen and Steph – Bridal Vogue Photography

Your beautiful and blissful day has passed…now what do you do with your wedding gown?  Why not have a little fun and wear it one last time!

Well these two lovelies certainly had fun wearing their gowns again.  A past bride, Stephanie, and her sister Kristen decided to do something different and a little edgy.  OF COURSE we were all for it!  Stephanie and Kristen both commented about how dirty their dresses got on their wedding days from traveling, photos, dancing, (the usual wedding stuff).  Kristen says, “I had wine spilled down the side of my dress” during her reception.  So we guessed that’s why she didn’t mind sitting on train tracks or on the back of a dirty truck for some photos.

Since this was a bridal “vogue” session, we decided to not do the traditional make-up, hair, and even added some different accessories with their gowns.  Jet-black eyeliner.  Yesss.  Bangle bracelets?  Yea, why not.  Leopard shoes.  Love it!  Pink hair extensions?  Do we dare?  Sure!  All these elements in addition to the industrial background, gave these blushing brides an edgy, raw, and high fashion look.  What fun!

Now if the dirty tracks, all that eye shadow, and mud puddles aren’t for you, then go with your dream “vogue” photo shoot.  Maybe on your wedding day you didn’t get the perfect weather for photos or you just want to wear the dress and do it all over again.  Then go for it!  No one has to really “trash the dress” (unless you really want to).  Create one more memory with your wedding gown before you bury it in the back of your closet.  Maybe even bring the hubby along too or a friend.  Stephanie comments, “I’m so glad I got to share that with my sister!”

Take a look at their photos.  Did they have fun?  Let’s have you be the judge.  As for us, we’re always game!  : )  – Andrea

Margaret and Greg Engagement Session

We were downtown in the heat Sunday evening for a great engagement session with Margaret and Greg whose wedding we’ll be photographing this October. We started at some of our favorite spots then did a bit of wandering and found some new ones. At their request, we even did our very first planking photos. More to come at the wedding maybe?

Engagement planking – the next big trend?

Andrew and Lauren engagement session

We had a fun engagement session yesterday with Andrew and Lauren. They are Penn State alumni who currently live in, and will be getting married near, the Washington D.C. area. They are huge Penn State fans and wanted to get some photos taken around campus and downtown at some of their favorite spots. We started at Old Main, headed to the Alumni Center, the Corner Room and downtown, Beaver Stadium and ended at the Lion Shrine. It was a lot of ground to cover so they opted for an extended 2 hr session. We’re glad they did as we would have hated to miss anywhere that they wanted to go and honestly don’t know what we would have cut out because everything turned out amazing! Good luck in all your wedding planning Andrew and Lauren, we hope to see you in happy valley again soon. – Joel and Andrea

Rebecca – State College Urban Senior Portrait Session

Check out this urban lady!  Miss Rebecca makes her photographic debut as “number five” of the lucky seven ladies to be photographed as J&A Photography’s senior reps.  We headed downtown State College for her photo shoot for some street scenes and alleyways.  Boy did we bite off more than we could chew!  I didn’t initially realize that it was Friday night on graduation weekend….so you could say it was a little busy downtown.  Rebecca did a fine job though despite all the onlookers, a few cat calls, and I think she even made some fans.  I’m sure she was glad to have her big sis, Madeline, there to pump her up and keep her comfortable.  Even with the local distractions, Rebecca pulled out her finest poses and gave us some edgy street scene looks that we were coveting.  Great job, Rebecca!  -  Andrea :  )

Allison and Matt – Engagement Session in Lancaster

Allison and Matt will be married this May in downtown Lancaster, PA at beautiful St. Mary’s Cathedral with the reception to follow at equally beautifulLime Spring Farm. We met with them this past weekend at the farm to preview the reception location and then to do some engagement photos. While Allison and I did both grow up in the Lancaster area we were a bit unsure of where we were going to do the session. Andrea and I agreed right away that the farm was going to look much, much better once spring hit – deciding we should save it for the wedding photos and that somewhere with a more urban look might be a fun change of pace from the farm. So, still without a clear idea of where we were headed we drove downtown and began looking for spots. Our search started at F&M campus and ended up somewhere near center city (I couldn’t even tell you where exactly). We wondered around for a bit finding some cool spots and in between dodging traffic and cat calls from random passers-by were able to get some really unique shots!  -  Joel
